BACP Registered Counselling

About Lucinda

Qualified BACP registered counsellor

I have been practising person-centred counselling since 2017, dividing my time between private practice and working for the domestic abuse counselling charity, WAVES Counselling Project.

I have experience with partner and family abuse, covering physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, addiction, PTSD, cPTSD, OCD, and other chronic health issues.

I also specialise in working with people with ASD, ADHD, and other nurodivergences, such as dyslexia. Self diagnosis or formal diagnosis are both welcome. I aim to provide a calming place where you can take your own time to talk without fear of judgement.

Anyone on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, whether out or not, including anyone exploring their gender in terms of genderqueer, non-binary, or any other term, will find a safe confidential place with me.

I also offer a fat-safe and health-at-every-size environment.

Currently, I am exclusively an online and phone service, which gives greater flexibility in appointment times, such as later in the evenings and at weekends.

About Lucinda
Why Counselling?

Why Counselling?

It can help with

Trauma Resolution

Having a safe, neutral environment to talk about trauma can help with working through trauma.

Regaining Emotional Balance

Life can easily get on top of you and make you lose touch with yourself emotionally. Having the time and space to sit and really look within can help you regain your balance.

Stress Relief

Knowing that you have a set time each week to talk about whatever you need in a non-judgemental environment can help with stress reduction enormously.

Ability to Better Set Boundaries

Having a safe place to properly sit back and look at the relationships in your life can help with seeing the genuine nature of them and begin work on creating healthier boundaries in your life.

Greater Self-confidence

Increased self-confidence and self-worth typically comes with knowing yourself better.

Better Understanding of Self

Taking the time to look inward and really process your emotions leads to you understanding yourself better.

What is Person-Centred Counselling?

What is Person-Centred Counselling?

Person-centred counselling, or client-centred counselling, is a talking therapy with a humanistic approach.

This is implemented by the client taking more of a lead role in the discussion, while the counsellor provides a supportive, non-judgemental atmosphere, and acknowledges the client's experiences with compassion without moving the conversation in another direction.

The aim of this is to provide clients with a safe space to explore their own feelings and issues, so they can discover their own solution.

The Person-centred approach, developed by Dr Carl Rogers, is to encourage the therapist to move away from the idea that they are the expert, such as directing the sessions and choosing the points of discussion.

The counsellor is there to walk with the client on their journey, as the client helps them understand life from their point-of-view. The counsellor in return for the understanding supports the client through empathy, acceptance, and being genuine, in gaining a greater sense of self-awareness and how they interact with the world.
